Something seems fishy

For today's good deed, I took my son Michael to Destin with me and we volunteered to help out with the Clean Coast music and arts festival.  Michael worked as a stage hand for the bands they had lined up and I worked the entrance booths collecting donations via t-shirt and bracelet sales.  It was for a good cause...I think.  Habitat for Humanity ran the volunteer portion that Michael and I participated in.  Here's where I smell something fishy going on.  First off, they were selling t-shirts for $25 and bracelets for $20.  Way over priced, especially the bracelets which were cloth and looked nice but one time use only.  Once on you, it had to be cut off.  Kinda pricey for a bracelet you may have to damage to remove.  The t-shirts should've been priced closer to $10.  In the five hours I worked, we sold seven shirts and two bracelets.  We had a stock over over 100 shirts and 500 bracelets and that was just our booth.  And we were the biggest money makers of all the booths today.  So basically thousands of dollars were spent on item that are a one time use.  I can't beleive we sold enough to make up for the cost of the items and help clean the coast.  Now here is where it gets really fishy, where is the money going? BP is paying for all the cleanup and claims for lost business.  So where is this cash going?  The other thing to make me go hmmm was the fact that they had a fully catered VIP room for the sponsors and the 30+ bands that were there.  I have to wonder how much profit that ate up?  75% of the bands did not perform because of the rain and they still got VIP treatment.  And why did the sponsors need VIP treatment?  I still consider this a good deed, because I was altruistic in my intent.  Something stinks about it though.

Over in Bloodletting we have a thread called Dracula's List.  It's like Angie's Lsit but centered on the customer service industry.  I visited a place today after my volunteer time was up and it was Dracula's List worthy.
Sugar Land is an ice cream parlor located at 34 Harbor Blvd in Destin Florida.  It is in the heart of Destin's tourist mecca and for many out of towners, this place and the service they receive might be a lasting impression they have of NW Florida. So he girl that helped me, could have been a little nicer, a little less eager to get us out the door, and a lot more polite.  Huge pet peeve of mine, is if I say thank you, I expect at the very least a "you're welcome"  You don't even have to smile. Oh well, I typically complain and no one listens.

Here's a fantastic set of boobies for your viewing pleasure!

Funny t-shirt of the day. This one has been around since the internet began but it still gives me a laugh whenever I see it.
